MCGS General Meeting

  • July 27, 2011
  • 7:00 PM - 9:59 PM
  • Marin Family History Center, 220 North San Pedro Rd., San Rafael

Presentation: Genealogy Software Familarity  Groups

The Marin County Genealogical Society members use many different brands of Genealogy Software on their PC’s and Macs. This meeting we will break up into groups according to Software product. In this way, all Family Tree Maker users will meet together, as will Reunion users, Legacy users, Roots Magic users and a group of "other programs", and "No Program Yet" people.

In this way you will meet others using the same program that you are, determine levels of use, and make plans for helping each other in the future. Each person will receive information on others using the same program. Those who are still trying to choose the perfect program for them will be helped with software comparisons.

If you have a laptop with your program installed, bring it, (although this is optional.) This will be a working meeting. We hope it will prove helpful to all attendees. Members with questions can call Susan Trumbull.

The public is welcome to come check us out and learn about different software programs which are available, and what MCGS can do to help them with their genealogy research.

About our Meetings:

The Genealogical Society General meetings are open to the public, with no admission fee. Feel free to drop in! Bring your friends as everyone is welcome. Come early and ask your burning genealogical questions of other members before the meeting.

We meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month, with a couple of exceptions. November's meeting is held on the 3rd Wednesday, due to Thanksgiving. There is no general meeting in May, due to our Annual Picnic, nor in December, due to the holidays and our Winter Holiday Party.

Annually, several of our regularly scheduled meetings have a certain focus: April, we hold our Annual General Meeting and Elections (but there's usually a presentation also); May of each year we hold an Anniversary Celebration or Annual Picnic; and in September, we have a workshop.
